Selamat Hari Imigresen, Setahun Aku Jadi PIN

1 Disember 2016

Katanya kena jadi Pengarah Negeri. Hati berdebar kenalin nak berdepan beratus pegawai imigresen.

Hujan lebat dan rintik-rintik sepanjang jalan. Mujur tidak banjir. Sampai saja di sana diarahkan periksa barisan. Pengacara berteriak kata “PIN sudah sampai. Semua diminta berdiri!” Lagu Negaraku dimainkan. Seorang PIK sebelah aku cakap “Tuan kena angkat tangan tabik tuan.” Aku akur.

Kemudian aku dihulur kertas bertulis dan disuruh berucap. Habis sahaja berucap satu demonstrasi oleh pegawai imigresen sambil pakai baju kalis api, bertopi dan tongkat kayu memukul-mukul perisai. Tak puas hati dengan aku ke? Aku tanya dalam hati.

Tiba-tiba ada rusuhan tahanan PATI. Seorang PATI mari menerkam ke arah aku. Dia katok aku. Adusss sakitnya. Lantas aku bingkas bangun. Urgghhh bermimpi pagi rupanya aku.

Writing an email to your boss

Your boss asked you to prepare some information.

You prepared the requested information. You compiled it. And you sent the information to your boss via email.

....and you wrote....

"Dear Boss,

..........for your further action.

Regards,

anonymous"

Do you spot any errors in the above writing? Nope. It has no mistake. Everything is correct. Hahaha, but....

All you need is to understand the context, the purpose and to know who is your recipient. And, how would you foresee the recipient reacts the moment he or she reads your email/letter/message?. For advanced writer, you may be able to set the kind of reactions you want the recipient reacts depending on how and what you write.

I sum it up....writing skills.

Okay lah, I give you the clue lah. Imaging that instead of you who take the action, but the way the message is written, it gives the impression that the boss is taking the action. And you give the instructions to your boss. Perkhhh.

Kihkihkih Ripin tak marah lah. Saja ja Ripin berkongsi ilmu untuk "knowledge sharing for today" teristimewa sekali kepada junior-junior. Ripin menyambung kerja...

Ripin Benci Rasuah

Ripin baru sudah makan durian. Ripin menulis.

Seorang bekas Pengerusi ditahan SPRM untuk siasatan kerana perlakuan rasuah.

# Kau kata SPRM main wayang.

Kau berdemo desak Perdana Menteri letak jawatan.

Seorang bekas Perdana Menteri, dulu la.

# Kau kata penzalim, penyangak, perompak, Mahaperasuah dan macam bagai gelaran. Hari-hari kau keluar kenyataan media, kau berhujah di Parlimen, kau berdemo berkilo-kilometer. Macam-macam kau desak SPRM (dulunya dikenali BPR) supaya tangkap, siasat dan dakwa jerung besar ini. Sekarang, kau kata bekas Perdana Menteri ini penyelamat negara. Kau lantik dia jadi bos kau.

Ripin pelik lah. Ripin pening. Apa kau merepek ni hah? Mungkin sebab Ripin Niknah makan durian banyak sangat kot.

Okay, good nite. Ripin nak tidur awal. Ripin kena bangun awal, nak pergi kutip durian, takut ada orang lain pergi kutip awal. Sekarang ramai tukang kutip durian bermata merah. Maklumlah, durian kampung pun dah jual timbang kilo.

Orang Cemerlang

Kau tahu tak sebab apa DISIPLIN tu ada?

Sebab itu dah jadi tabiat kau. Sikit sikit buat gitu.

Kenapa jadi gitu? Sebab hari-hari rutin kau buat benda macam tu. Dah jadi rutin kau.

Natijahnya? Kau jadi cemerlang bila rutin kau cemerlang.

Kata-kata pujangga: "Orang yang cemerlang mempunyai rutin yang cemerlang", Dato' Dr Haji Fadzilah Kamsah.

Ripin Niknah tulis balik kat atas😊

Wong Chun Wai Wrote: All in A Day's Words in Politics

Extract from my newspaper reading this morning. The Star 16 July 2017. The article title All in A Day's Words in Politics says...

"3. I will 'take note' of the proposal - Which means the politician will do nothing. In fact, if your staff or colleague spouts the same phrase, it only amounts to the person NOT DESERVING A PAY RISE. Lazy bones syndrome? Highly likely! It's almost an expression of inertness. Amazingly, it has now become the standard 'tactical response' used by politicians to answer fellow Members of Parliament on the opposite bench during Question Time."

By the way, there 10 remarks casually and overly used by politicians. Written by Wong Chun Wai.

P/s: Muahahahaaa. I also encountered the above phares almost every hour. It's like a spontaneous answer from my working colleagues whenever our boss instructed us to take actions on certain decision. Their commonly replied was "Noted Sir."

Bersyukurlah Dengan Pekerjaan Kamu

Aku kerja hari-hari dari pukul 8 pagi hingga pukul 6 petang. Itu waktu pejabat atas kertas sahaja. Petang hingga awal malam asyik kena hadir majlis makan malam, majlis perjumpaan, macam-macam majlis. Tengah malam pula, pergi operasi. Masuk tapak pembinaan penuh lubang, kayu tajam, paku berkarat. Balik rumah awal pagi. Letih mengantuk tak cukup rehat.

Mesyuarat hampir setiap hari. Beratus-ratus keputusan sehari kena buat. Silap hari bulan, esok datang SPRM, kena tata tertib, kena buang kerja, hilang pencen.

Hari minggu terbang ke Ibu Pejabat. Kadang-kadang pergi dengan kereta. Merempuh 7-8 jam perjalanan. Pergi sana kerana mesyuarat dengan bos besar. Terima pengarahan baru yang harus dilaksanakan. Ada polisi baru. Ada program baru.

Akhir bulan, gaji masuk.

Fikir nak pecah kepala. Nak pergi kerja, balik kerja asyik risau takut ada orang ikut. Mata tak pernah lekang tegok cermin belakang, cermin sisi kereta kalau-kalau ada orang cuba rapat. Masa rehat, masa nak berkebun, masa nak berbadminton hampir tiada. Cubaan orang nak bagi duit ada sentiasa.

Tapi gaji banyak tu jer. Bonus bantuan kewangan pun RM500 sahaja. Kereta tak besar mana. Rumah pun rumah lama. Tak berapa cukup nak buat ubahsuai. Hutang rumah pun lama lagi nak habis bayar.

Tak macam kawan-kawan sesekolah dan sedarjah dulu. Ada syarikat kapal, ada syarikat minyak, ada syarikat IT. Ada gaji RM50,000 sebulan, ada gaji lebih RM100,000 sebulan. Ada yang dapat bonus 6 bulan, ada 12 bulan. Ada rumah macam istana. Kereta Mercedes, Lexus 4x4, BMW, pergi melancong ke London, Paris, Tokyo, main salji.

Mereka mampu menderma bersedeqah buat sekolah tahfiz, buat serambi surau, beli 3-4 ekor lembu buat korban untuk orang miskin, beri sumbangan kepada kawan-kawan sudah beratur-ratus ringgit. Tiap tahun, tiap 6 bulan terbang ke Mekah buat umrah.

Hari minggu mereka lepak sama kawan-kawan, main golf, memancing laut dalam dengan kapal besar, menembak, berkaraoke. Sembang projek besar beratus ribu, berjuta-juta.

Kerja aku nampak berat walau gaji kecil.

It's been a while...

Since reported duty in my home state last December 2016, I rarely wrote articles. This blog seems dying. Worry not! Nope! It still alive. I'm the blogger is still active. My brain always thinking. Okay.

In fact, my inner force keep telling my to write. Yes, I want to write indeed. I have a lot of ideas to lay it down on cyber canvas.

Just that, I always lost focus. Unable to spend 1-2 hours to concentrate on writing. I have to many things to look after.

Being the number one in state department, forced my to keep thinking and busy with work.

Nevertheless, all these will not stop me from writing. Writing is my hobby and one of my ways presenting my thoughts and sharing knowledge. It also sharpen my writing skills and keep my language Bahasa Malaysia and English improved.

Kelantan is a Poor State

Kelantan is a poor-developed state of Malaysia. Perceived and painted as a poor state. We are the lowest income per capita state of all states in Malaysia. It's okay.

This week I interviewed one Pakistani businessman who married local woman and has businesses in Kelantan. He and his family's controlled companies manufacture and sell furniture for Kelantan market. He supplies furniture to majority of shops and showrooms all over Kelantan. He is the number 1 furniture player in the state.

He said the national furniture market is struggling to survive. Most of furniture manufacturers in Muar, Johor are selling lesser quantity for Malaysian market except for Kelantan and Terengganu. As a matter of fact, he said, Kelantan is the biggest market for furniture produced by Johorean Muar manufacturers.

I was shocked to hear that. Biaq betui, Kelantan is the biggest market!!! True, he said. Kelantanese people often change furniture almost every year especially during Hari Raya Aidil Fitri season.

Emmm, not bad hah.. And we are thankful for that. It's a gift from Allah.

Yet, we remain as a poor state. We have no complaint about that.

Q & A About PTD: Permohonan Jawatan PTD dan Kelulusan

Question received via email dated 22 February 2017:

Salam saudara Saupee. I hope you are able to help with some questions here.

1. Is there any age restriction for us to apply for the PTD Post. (say at 41).
2. To become a diplomatic officer and work with the embassy / wisma putra / foreign ministry, is PTD the only post that we can go for or is there any other post for an International Relation graduates can apply for.

Thank you very much in advance if are answering my mail.
May allah granted barakah to you and family.
Mxxxxxxi binti xxxad

Anwer:

Hello Mxxxxxxi,

1. As far as I am aware, there is no age restriction to apply for PTD post. As a general rule, the applicant must have at least a bachelor degree recognised by Public Service Department of Malaysia or known as JPA;

2. The PTD post, though it is known as Pegawai Tadbir dan Diplomatik or Administrative and Diplomatic Officer, it actually does not automatically carry a "Diplomatic" status. The diplomatic status is a credential accorded to an officer by the government to serve in a foreign country which the both countries have an official bilateral diplomatic relation. It is governed under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. A Diplomat works with the embassy, that is under the purview of Foreign Ministry and majority of them are PTDs. That is the privilege of being a PTD officer. Thus, a diplomat may also be appointed from other service scheme such as a military personnel, a policemen, an immigration officer etc. All diplomats work for and answerable to the Head of Mission who are the officers from the Foreign Ministry.

In regards to your academic qualification, having the IR certificate may earn you some plus points for consideration when you chose your preferred ministry. But, please be reminded that you may not get what you want. A PTD officer can be posted to anywhere and anytime depending on the situation and the government's priority.

I hope the answer has enlighten your doubts and I encourage you to apply for PTD post if you keen to serve the country!!!

Income RM10k A Month But Still Driving Grabcar

22 February 2017

Two nights ago, I took the ride sharing service Grabcar from Wangsa Maju to my home after arriving from KLIA by ERL and LRT. It was around 10 minutes to 12am. The app showed the fare would be around RM7.00 for the trip.

While the app was searching drivers nearby, the first driver Ahmad appeared on my phone's screen but the ping was unsuccessful. I think the driver ignored my ping. Second attempt, driver Chang emerged. It took a while before a pop up screen showed "Yeay, we found a driver..." The profile of the driver stated he drives Honda Insight car. Woww not bad!!!

In less than 5 minutes, the driver arrived to pick up me. I got in the car. I praised him for the cleaned car, being "rajin" and driving in the midnight. I sat on the front passenger seat and we headed to the destination.

While driving, the driver Chang spoke non-stop. "Nowadays, life is difficult lah. Everything is expensive. Since GST, our money become less and less. Our country bla bla bla (all negative things lah). We should follow Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Australia....." I chipped in "Do you know, all these countries have GST....and their rates are higher than us?" Silent. No reply from the driver.

I then suggested to him to apply for BR1M and inform him that it could help easing his financial burden. "Where got qualify! It's for the poor! My household income is more than RM10k a month." He continued "You know, I am forty three already. Got so much commitments to pay, children's education, insurance, car, house...our income not enough! That's why I do part time Grabcar during the night. I also have a job....My car need to be maintained regularly. Every night, I drive 300km."

Moral of the story from this story:-

1. Income of more than RM10k still not enough to certain people.
2. Big income big crust (literal translation of Malay proverb).
3. Some regard RM7 is nothing. Some regard RM7 is something.
4. Everything want to blame the government.
5. Never thankful that Malaysia is a prosperous country which you can do anything to supplement income.
6. Bersyukurlah wahai umat Malaysia tetapi jangan makan dan beri rasuah.

Okay, I have a meeting on the 9th floor.

Bribery Perception

16 February 2017 - I had a new insight today. I had a chit chat with one of my subordinates today. It's how people from a faith other than of mine perceive the act of "give and take" involving money and services rendered a.k.a. willing taker and willing giver of a bribery act. The staff said, it is not wrong to accept money if the giver willingly offer to pay money for a speedier service by a government staff.

I'm trying not to make a connection of  this perception to any religion because I have a strong belief that all religions reject bribery. When I disputed that staff about this teaching belief, the staff further said their upbringing accepted this practice and it is not abnormal paying a staff/officer, either to the government servant or private company employee to get their application processed faster.

I just couldn't believe myself that such belief actually exists. We debated about this perception and presented examples to support our arguments. Lastly, my staff said to me "Sir, you won." and left my room and punched out the attendance card.

My gut tells me, I won maybe because I am the boss.

Pesanan Untuk Rakyat Kelantan

Jom uboh... jange duk bereng.

Satu jam pun belum tentu sampai.

✅Keadaan sekarang, kereta bertambah banyak di atas jalanraya. Jalanraya pula saiznya sama dengan jalanraya 20 tahun dulu.
Kalau ada pertambahan & pembesaran pun tak banyak. Fly over yang ada pun tak banyak, tu pun ambil masa 4-5 tahun nak siap.

✅Untuk selesaikan masalah ni, kita rakyat Kelantan kena pakat tolong sesama kita.

*Tolong lagumano :*

πŸ”΄1. Kena cepat2 bergerak bila lampu hijau, khas utk kereta hok duk depan sekali. Kena selalu siap sedia semasa di traffic light.

Jangan bila lampu hijau baru nok cari batang gear. Bila lambat gerak, kena hon kokram, barulah mula gelabah sampai tertukar pedal minyak dgn pedal brake.

Hok kawe panah peda sekali kalu traffic lite hok ado nombor countdown tu, napok doh nombor 10,9,8,.....3,2,1..lampu hijau baru nok gaga.

Kerana ado hok perangai lagu ni la keno duk traffic light 2-3 kali lampu hijau baru boleh lepas.
Dio bubuh nombor tu nok suruh kito siap sedio, bukan suruh belajar mengira. Kalu kato bodo ke demo, maroh.

πŸ”΄2. Kalu demo tok lorat. Perut kenye doh, semaye siap doh. Jange dok hecer kot atah jale rayo. Ni gak, meta ko demo rileks, tekan minyok supo tekan dengan anok jari kaki. Kereta sama laju dengan org hok jalan kaki. Kalu tengok, kereta demo serupo kepalo kereta api. Demo duk depan, hok lain berjujuk kot belake. Nok pulok, jalan hok payoh nok memotong double line atau jalan sempit.

Timbang raso ko ore lain hok ado kijo mustohok, hok nok gi kijo, nok gi spita, nok ambik anok sekoloh ko, nok gi semaye ko, hatta hok sakit perut nok berok ko. Kito keno pikir belako masalah ore. Jangan kito tak dok masalah, kito anggap ore lain tak dok masalah jugok.

Kalu abe, adik kakok nok naik kereta nok make angin, boleh gi pantai. Make la angin sampai kembung perut. Angin pantai takkan habis. Ambo mitok tulung banyok2, janganla duk hecer kot dalam bandar.

πŸ”΄3. Signal. Bendo paling mudoh dalam dunio. Nok belok kiri, tolok kot atas. Nok belok kanan, tolok kot bowoh. Engineer Jepun pecoh palo mikir lagumano nok reka signal nok bui jalan raya ni selamat. Reka signal LED la, hok biaso la. Bakpo gak malas sangat, payoh sangat nok bui signal bilo nok masuk lorong.

Demo jange runsing, signal loni kalau demo tekey dio jetak semula. (automatic jetak sendiri bilo stering betul) Tok payoh nok ejah matti signal. Patutla ramai hok obesiti. Nok bui signal pon malas. (gerey weh aku).

Pah kalu ore tepoh punggung mula nok gocoh ore la. kito tu hok tolol. Kalu ado kereto hok boleh baca niat ore gini, ambo pun nok beli so.

πŸ”΄4. Kalau jalan dua lorong. Lorong alik kanan untuk ore lorat. Lorong alik kiri utk ore hok lorat dio tak berapo urgent. Ore hok tok lorat, serupo ambo oyak tadi. Gi makey angin tepi pantai.

Jadi pandai pandai la. Jangan bawak kereto slow, tapi duk alik kanan. Nyusoh kokram.

So lagi, kalu nok u-turn, jangan duk alik kanan lagi kalu tempat u-turn tu 5km di depan. Nok duk alik kanan tu buleh, laju sikit kenderaan anda.

πŸ”΄5. Cermin pandang belakang. Guno cermin ni, tengok gapo hok ado belake kito. Alert!. Ni gak, ado cermin tapi tak tengok. bowok kereto serupo dio sore jah hok ado atas jalan raya.

πŸ”΄6. FB/Whatsapp dan sewaktu denganya. Masa drive atau menunggang moto. jangan duk ralit main mugo goni. Ngadap mugo goni boleh buat kito lalai. Lampu hijau kita tak jalan. Ore brek kito tok brek. Pahtu eksiden. Mula la jerit tubik air mato. Hok naik moto, main wasap, muto pah ko dale parit.

Ambo rasa setakat tu dulu..kalu ado nok tamboh boleh la.

Hoh so lagi, kalu bowok kereta laju tu boleh. Tapi otak kita pon keno sama laju dengan kereta. Semua orang boleh bawak kereta dan moto. tapi tak semua orang jadi pemandu berhemah.

Kita boleh ubah. Atah nok dengan tok sir jah. Cayo la buoh kawe ni.
